Jack Burgess story [part 1]

Mr. Jack Burgess, the great-grandfather of Gary Paterson (one of our pupils), provided our school with a wealth of knowledge on what it like for Scottish aircrews during the Second World War, so that we could understand what ordinary men did for their countries.

Mr. Burgess provided us with many photographs of himself and his comrades, as well as some of the recollections of members of The Aircrew Association (Scottish Saltire Branch) and their photographs.

We used this information to increase our understanding of what it was like for the ordinary local men and women fighting during the Second World War, as well as why it is so important for us to remember our past, and to remember the local people who fought so bravely for us.
