East Ayrshire's war: Brendan Cambridge's relations (text)

My papa,Brendan Cambridge, was 18-23 years old during the war and he was called up for the army, but he couldn't be in the army because he was in reserved occupation which means that his job was too important for him to be in the army and if too many men that were in the army got killed he would have to go and fight but he didn't have to.

He was sent for testing and he passed A1 (which means perfect). He was working in the Clyde Crane Engineering works in Motherwell and his job was to read out the drawings of the cranes for the other men to build them.
