WW2 Street games East Ayrshire's war: WW2 Street games transcript (text)

Hurlford PS, Kilmarnock
With Miss Dorothy Davidson

We’re going to start with something that’s very, very easy, because remember I told you that during war we didn’t have a lot of toys, so you had to make your games up without toys.

We’re going to play Wounded Tig. Now, Wounded Tig is dead easy. Would you like to get up a minute? I’m going to be het, right? I choose you and I touch you there. Now you’re wounded, so you’ve got to hold this bit, until you touch the next person. If you touch him there, he’s got to keep his hand on his head and you’ll be cured, you see. All right? Right!

The trick was that you tried to get them on the leg and of course, they couldn’t catch you. There you are, you’re caught, on you go. Go and catch somebody!
