I was brain washed and made to think that going to war with the Nazi's was the only thing we could do

More or less yes, We had to go to war

In 1942 I went to a training centre to learn how to march. I was also in the ACS

How did the war effect the people in your family?

My older brother was desperate to help or be in the air force. He eventually got the chance but the plane was shot down, he was buried in Holland at the age of 22

Did anyone in your family have a particular service during the war?

Not really. Most of my family had Civilian jobs. My dad was a butcher and my sisters were grocery workers. Either that or they were too young to work. My brother was a flight engineer and my uncle was in the royal navy in Jersey.
