Transcript of Alice, Ewen and Steven duscussing a map of Cove [ranscript]

Alice- MrsMathieson use to live in old Cove. Here is the annexe where she was taught and lived.

Ewen-Here is Catto Park which I think she said was her garden.

Alice- Yes.

Ewen -A lot of kids play there now on the swings and the chute.

Alice- It used to be a playing field.

Steven- This is the church where she used to go and pray.

Alice-Across from the houses now are the playing fields but there used to be lots of fields and they used to dig for victory. Mrs Mathieson got married and moved away from Cove. But as she visited our school and we took her around, she remembered most of the stuff that she missed for example as we talked about the annexe, she told us about how the bombs dropped beside the railway line and the playing fields. The annexe was here and she indicated that bombs dropped next to the railway, playing field and down to the harbour. Also she remembers the old harbour where kids now play, such as Ewen.

Ewen- Yes you can climb on the rocks and I don't know if they actually did this at that time but, round about here there is a little area known as The Beattie where a lot of kids go and swim after school as it is very clean and there is no risk of getting washed out to sea.

Alice- Actually I think I remember her saying something on the tape about how she used to swim across this trail. She remembers the farm that I now live in.

Ewen- Downies Farm?

Alice- She used to cycle past there every day to try to get to school. Past there is Torry you see. She used to cycle to Torry and back every day. She also remembers going past the farm and the same shed is there today, 60 years later.
Also in the film when the children were showing her round the annexe, she came to the room and she remembers living in that exact room.

Ewen- Which is now the Playgroup I think.

Alice- Yes a playgroup and for the Nursery. So she then showed us where the kitchen was, the living room and where she slept at night. Also where they put up their Blackout curtains. Also when they went outside, were there air raid shelters?

Ewen- Yes they passed the annexe and there was the little shelter.

Alice- Yes it would be about there. And the bombs as we showed you hit there and down at the harbour. I can imagine it would have been quite frightening
