Highland Memoirs: WWII

Project organiser: Cauldeen Primary School, Highland.

This project enabled children to investigate the local impact of the war by looking at environmental evidence, surviving documents and talking to people to gain eye witness accounts. The class visited local sites used by the services for training purposes and places bombed during the war.


Interview with Mr Sutherland

Mr Sutherland, from Inverness, served in the RAF during the Second World War as a pilot and a radar officer. Primary 7 pupils interviewed him about his experiences during the war:

Donald Grant, from Inveness, served as a Royal Marine during the war. Primary 7 pupils interviewed him about his experiences of war in the Far East:

Shelia Mackay was a child during the war. Primary 7 pupils interviewed her to find out what is like to be a child in Inverness during the war:
