School children interview Mr and Mrs Paterson about entertainment during the war

What did you do to entertain yourself during the War?

John: Well we went to dances we went to the pictures, usually an aerodrome was a few miles away, in there village there might have been a pub, I I I didn’t drink I was t total, the rest of the crew would have drink. I would go to the dance hall

Sarah: Yes well just what John says the dances and things that’s where I happened to meet, the man on my right was dancing, but having said that I met him before I was in the ATS and he was in the RAF, and while he was away we kept in touch but it wasn’t until the end of the war we met up again. Merely by accident and that‘s the story from there and we’re here to today to tell the story.
