School children interview Jean and Teresa about evacuation during the war
Teresa: I was too old for evacuation but I remember the whole street being evacuated, I can remember the wee children going away with their tags on them and their wee cases

How old were you when WWII started?

Jean: 18, I’ll be 85 on my next birthday, it was a long time ago

Do you remember when WWII was declared?

Jean: Well we got the papers in, and our mothers took us to the station, the were all crying but we were all laughing as we thought we have a good time by ourselves because your mother was strict in those days you dint get to do what you wanted you had to do what your mother told you.

So were you evacuated Jean?

Jean: No I was too old, some of the children that I knew were evacuated.
