School children interview Jean and Teresa about school during the war
What was school like for you Jean?

Jean: Was very strict you had to sit still, and not do anything wrong or you got the belt if you didn't do what you were told! But it was quite ood though.

Teresa: Oh yes

Jean: Different all together now.

Teresa: We had a teacher who had a short cane, which was periodically used to poke the fire there was a coal fire in the classroom, so hat would be used then she had a duster she would wipe it off with. She was very strict but very fair I think fairness comes into it. It’s all right being strict if you’re fair with your rules.
