| Europe,
1939. A beautiful area of landmass just off the coast of Britain.
Things here aren’t all they seem. A German dictator
by the name of Adolph Hitler has threatened the stability
of this land by marching his army into Czechoslovakia and
is threatening to do the same in Poland. The British and French
governments rally their troupes together in a show of force
to Herr Hitler and guarantee Poland and her people that should
they be invaded, they would not be alone. In fact, they would
have some of the finest soldiers, naval officers and pilots
in the Eastern Hemisphere by their sides. But Herr Hitler
hasn’t listened and on Sunday 3rd September 1939, Chamberlain
made his historic announcement “following the invasion
of Poland, this country is at war with Germany”.
The news spread like wildfire and the people of Great Britain
prepared for an imminent attack. As the capital city London
was particularly susceptible to bombings, civilians quickly
made safety precautions to minimise the dangers.
But it wasn’t just London. Every single British civilian
would be a target in this war and the Scots were no exception.
