Inver can claim to having
the oldest evacuee in Great Britain. Mrs Skinner, who was born in the
village in 1851 and had spent her 92 years there, was moved with her
daughter to a neighbouring village. Proud of her grandson, Hector,
who gained a Distinguished Service Medal as a gunner in a Russian convoy,
Granny Skinner, as she was known, said she was willing to help the
fighting men in any way she could.
