We will remember them: Scott’s Great Grandfather, John MacKay (text & image)
Scott’s Great, Grandfather John MacKay was in the Navy. He served on a lot of ships some of them minesweepers. His last ship was HMS Colombo. He took part in the Atlantic Convoys that transported food from America to Britain. It was very dangerous as ships were always lost on the convoys. He was given the Atlantic Star for that. He also had a 1939-45 Star, a War Medal and a Defence Medal.
