Lecture Series
As part of Clackmannanshire’s programme of commemorative
events, the Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a
series of lectures about the Second World War. Broadcasting veteran
and legendary Scottish sports commentator, Archie Macpherson will
give the first in the series, reminiscing about what became of
the glorious game during the war, illustrated by local and personal
stories. Other lectures in the series include Songs We Sang During
the War on January 2006, with folk singer Kathie Costello leading
a wartime musical trip down memory lane. Please see the Events

Your Future Clackmannanshire Launch
On the 10th December the IWM touring exhibition reached it’s
final destination at the Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery
in Stirling. George Reid MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish
Parliament, Margaret Brisley, Depute Provost of Stirling and Derek
Stewart, Provost of Clackmannanshire led the proceedings at the
launch, with over 200 Guests attending, from local Veterans to
the museum’s Young Archaeologists Club.

Launch
Prior to the opening of the Their
Past Your Future exhibition in Stirling on 10th December, Clackmannanshire
kicked off their commemorative project with a programme of events
to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the end of WWII.
Throughout September, there was a
range of exciting and innovative events running in and around
Clackmannanshire. The events focused on the impact the war had
on the local area and include a 1945 themed weekend, a lecture
series and classic film screenings.
